With submissions opening today, the project aims to create a large-scale digital artwork that’s a mosaic of individual NFTs, all of which are unique community-sourced photographs. These 3,000 images – which will remain individually owned – will be compiled as tiles into a single patchwork NFT by Zach Lieberman, to be later auctioned off on the curated NFT marketplace SuperRare.
Proceeds from the NFT auction will be donated to Slow Factory, a non-profit working to educate people on meaningful climate solutions and inclusive communities. Community creators will receive a percentage of the sale each time the patchwork piece is sold while retaining the full IP rights to their individual tile, which they can choose to sell on a secondary marketplace. This shared ownership structure centres on creator rights, making it easier than ever for people to get involved in the crypto arts movement.
The NFT market is expanding much like crypto currency, which is why this project is fantastic. It's a joint project by two giant brands, both of which I admire. This endeavour allows for unknown artists to showcase their work and be part of a global community, while also allowing them to own a piece of digital art that will no doubt be very valuable in the future. A great opportunity!
Artists can register from January 24 to submit their own unique photograph using a filter designed by Lieberman and, following the waitlist period, 3,000 contributors will be randomly selected to participate in the project. From January 26-27, selected contributors will be able to mint their image as an NFT free of cost. The auction of the overall artwork, titled adidas for Prada re-source by Zach Lieberman, will take place January 28–31, with the piece set to be displayed as an installation in selected Prada and adidas flagship stores worldwide.
