The 9th of May has been marked by beauty and fashion aficionados for a while, and here we finally are – Australian Fashion Week! Another year comes, and editors, influencers, designers, and models alike are stepping their way into a rainy Sydney (because the rain just had to visit us!). Complaints aside, the Casper team is heading to Carriageworks (that’s where the Fashion Madness happens) and a few more iconic places during the week to get you the scoop from inside.
Day 1 started, and I headed to the gorgeous Edwards and Co salon for a hair prep with the Redken team, and omg, my curls haven’t been this glossy for like, ever. No frizz at all; with the added humidity in the atmosphere, what else can a curly girl ask for? We finished just in time for the first show of the day, featuring the stunning luxe resort and swimwear brand Bondi Born with their new Resort 23 Phosphor collection. Location? White Bay Cruise Terminal.
For this show, lime green was THE COLOUR, and cut-outs were the show's winners. The casting was top notch, with models proudly showing off their different skin colours, sizes, and ages; thank you for thinking of inclusivity in every way, Bondi Born team! We believe there’s nothing more beautiful than local brands doing their part, so the fact that Bondi Born is a certified B Corporation and is Climate Neutral Certified made the show that much better.
PHOSPHOR sees a colour palette as soft as it is acidic – foreign and familiar. Far-reaching and far-ranging references find balance alongside the hum of our collective longing to start, stop, and begin again.
We are very excited to present PHOSPHOR, our third show at Australian Fashion Week. Each show gives us an incredible opportunity to create a moment that personifies who we are as a brand and the joy we want women to feel when they wear BONDI BORN. Our customers tell us that they love BONDI BORN not only for the confidence and style they enjoy wearing our garments, but also the knowledge that by wearing us, they are doing what’s best for people and the planet.
A ride away from Carriageworks, where the fun had begun, I jumped backstage to see Mary Alamine doing her magic with O&M for BEARE PARK. But what’s the inspo behind Beare’s hair looks? The BEARE girl has had the night of her life, and, honestly, she’s too happy to care about anything. With lived-in hair a little bit dirty, she represents the ultimate care-free woman. On one side, we have lots of creamy textures, and on the other, curls are being embraced at their finest.
We had so much fun for the first day of Australian Fashion Week, but there’s so much more to come – stay tuned for our coverage for the rest of the week!
