This is its own problem, but unfortunately men encounter the complete opposite – a lack of products designed specifically for men and men’s issues. As this is an issue that we at Casper Magazine have written about before, we’re delighted to have been able to speak to the founders of All About the Man, Lindy and Francesca, about their newly launched, male-oriented venture.
Q. Can you tell us a little bit about your personal and brand history?
We are two life-long friends who met working in London over 15 years ago. We both have backgrounds as lawyers in corporate law. In the last few years, Lindy has been working in the consulting and transformation space and Francesca has been working in client engagement for a digital agency. We have been talking about joining forces for a long time, and we took the opportunity in this unforgettable year of 2020 to build and launch All About the Man.
Q. What’s the inspiration behind launching a platform specifically for men’s grooming? why do you believe this is important for the modern man?
We both come from large male-dominant families – Lindy in particular has 7 older brothers (poor Lindy!). Our inspiration came from hearing their frustrations about finding products dedicated to men at different ages and stages of their lives. And, personally, being able to find the products they were looking for would be great from a gifting perspective. We quickly understood that men’s needs can be very different, and they are looking for products dedicated to them in an uncomplicated place. We’ve started with personal care, as one of the more common frustrations was that repurposing women’s products did not achieve the same results. But there’s more to come – watch this space!
We’re focused on building a platform to help men, and all our customers generally, to shop with ease and confidence. We believe that our value is in providing an environment without judgement and products that meet men’s needs. Particularly, in the case of men’s grooming, there is a growing understanding of the importance of a personal care routine and its role in self-care overall.
Q. All of the brands you feature are local – is supporting local brands important to you?
Yes, all the brands we support are local, homegrown Australian and New Zealand businesses, each with unique standards, values, and lifestyles. Now, more than ever, we are seeing the importance of shopping and supporting local. Of course, supporting local has the benefit of improving our local economy, but equally for us it’s about getting to know the people behind the brands and making our contribution towards a smaller carbon footprint.
