Digipop: A W Studio x Karim Rashid Carpet Collaboration

Bold design meets award-winning textile technology in this new carpet collection.

Toronto carpet design house W Studio have released their new Digipop Collection, featuring beautiful art by New York-based designer Karim Rashid. Each rug uses a radiant colour scheme in eye-catching patterns to create artwork on high quality materials.

Described as ‘the most famous industrial designer in all the Americas’ by Time magazine, Rashid has over four thousand designs in production, with creations ranging from wine bottles to residential properties. Collaborating with W Studio was an opportunity for Rashid to let his creativity run wild, with the design house’s diverse technologies and production methods allowing for full control and customisation of each carpet in the new collection.

Together, we are the perfect union of smart design and premium materials while embracing the full potential of contemporary technology.
- KARIM RASHID, DESIGNER

The carpets are made of the finest wool to allow high-definition printing on soft material, with designs characterised by interesting juxtapositions of form and colour. Their abstract patterns almost seem like optical illusions, playing with shape and lighting in ways that sometimes give a sense of three dimensions. The designs range from bold and graphic to subtle and undulating, and whether they’re used as floor coverings or as acoustic wall art, their gorgeous artistry will liven up any space.

We at Casper Magazine have followed Karim Rashid’s work for a while now, and the Digipop Collection is just latest in an impressive career. The creative thinking and detailed colouring technology that made these designs possible are a great demonstration of what happens when art and tech collide, with each carpet a testament to the collaboration of the industries.
