Situated in the Nuevo Polanco area in Mexico City, the Neuchâtel Cuadrante Polanco is a real estate complex that will become home to The Eye of Mexico, an artificial intelligence (AI) art installation by MASSIVart and creative studio Ouchhh. Set to be unveiled in May of this year in the central plaza, the artwork is designed to display audio-visual data about how people in Mexico City move, drawing connections between art, science, technology, and urban mobility.
Developed by real estate company MIRA, the Neuchâtel Cuadrante Polanco is designed to increase the urban lifestyle experience for the tenants, residents, and customers of the mixed-use complex. This atmosphere of movement, energy, and innovation is precisely what inspired The Eye of Mexico, with Ouchhh earning the artwork commission out of 350 international applicants. The artwork will attract visitors into the commercial areas of the complex while providing an incredible centrepiece for residents, building a sense of community within the development.

The sense of dynamism infused into the complex is set to be showcased in The Eye of Mexico sculpture, which will use demographic, urban, and mobility data for Mexico in its mesmerising displays. As an insight into how the people of Mexico move, the project can be considered a ‘kind of portal towards the future’ of Mexico City and other urban spaces, exploring patterns and changes of mobility across the country.
As the first artificial intelligence (AI) public art installation in Latin America, The Eye of Mexico is a statement of art and technology that will surely become the communal core of the Neuchâtel Cuadrante Polanco. The installation will be revealed to the public on May 19.
