We spoke to Miranda Kerr about the relaunch of her sustainable skincare brand KORA Organics and the importance of self-care.
The Body collection is reformulated with new, clinically active, and powerful ingredients for an elevated body care experience. I was inspired by our skincare best-sellers and wanted to bring certified organic ingredients with powerful results to your full body, as it is just as important to take care of our bodies as we do our face.
We are continuing to introduce new and improved environmentally friendly packaging, with 100% PCR packaging components to reduce environmental impact. The line features an Invigorating Body Scrub, Renewing Hand & Body Wash and Nourishing Hand & Body Lotion.
Since day one, I knew I wanted KORA’s product range to be filtered through rose quartz; infused with the vibration of love. It’s just a special little personal touch I wanted to add to the products to bring a bit of magic and make it a nurturing experience.
Rose quartz has been something that I’ve naturally gravitated to my whole life; gentle soft pink-color crystal believed to carry a very soothing energy to promote love and acceptance of ourselves and others; nurtures the heart chakra, and for me, it encourages a non-egotistical form of self-love. We can be our worst critics, and I think rose quartz helps us be kind to ourselves.
On the back of every product there’s a positive word. The intention is to uplift the products and uplift the user with these powerful, uplifting words. When they’re using it, they can look on the back and have that little gentle reminder to be in that positive state of mind.
Yes! Self-care is so important. When you feel your best, you are able to give so much more to your family, work, friends, and the world around you. My morning and evening skincare rituals not only make me feel good, but also encourage me to take time daily to focus on myself and reconnect, which personally promotes a sense of overall mental and physical health. We have self-care in mind when developing every single one of our products.
I love all three, but my favourite would be the Invigorating Body Scrub. I was so excited about the results people were getting all over the world from our Turmeric 2-in-1 Brightening and Exfoliating Mask, I began to use it all over my body.
I received so much positive feedback from customers and dermatologists that were recommending this face scrub for Keratosis pilaris on the back of their arms, so I wanted to create a Body Scrub version that was just as powerful and uplifting but with a formula specifically designed for your whole body. This product leaves your skin feeling so soft and smooth, I am obsessed!
Product development is my favourite part – pushing the boundaries of organic skincare and finding new alternatives that deliver results and make a difference in peoples’ lives. Research and development are priorities and we work with leading chemists on our formulas to identify new high potency/high performance ingredients. We love seeking out new innovative ingredients and formulations to create products that push the boundaries.
I test every sample on myself and my team for many months until it is perfected. Every product is something I want to use on myself, to address my own skin concerns – melasma or stretch marks during/after pregnancy, uneven skin tone, brightening, minimising pores, hydration, anti-aging, glowing skin… Lastly, our clinical trials and consumer studies, these are done before we launch the product.
Me, too; I am obsessed with both of those products. Turmeric is a powerful ingredient with ancient uses. It contains potent antioxidants to protect against environmental stressors while helping to delay signs of aging, making it great for all skin types. Its ability to brighten and even skin tone while reducing the appearance of pigmentation and its anti-inflammatory properties are why it has become one of our hero ingredients.
My husband uses all KORA products; his favourites are the Turmeric 2:1 Brightening & Exfoliating Mask and the Noni Glow Face Oil. Our products are made for men and women so there are no plans to create a range specific to men.
It’s definitely a constant juggle and not easy. There is this constant Mom guilt that you feel… that you could always do so much more. But I feel there is another side to that – it’s important for our children to see us having a strong work ethic and teach them the value of hard work and earning their own living.
My parents were very young when they had me and they both worked very hard at running their own businesses, so a strong worth ethic was instilled in me at a young age. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t experience that growing up.
For me, however, I’ve learned it’s important to have more of a work/life balance. Even before COVID, I was working from home and as a minimum, during workdays I try to be present and phone-free with each of my three children at the beginning and end of our day. We have our set morning and evening routines, which allows us special time together. Of course, my weekends are filled with quality family time, which I really look forward to.
