Uncontrived Beauty: Summer Hair & Makeup Tutorial

Uncontrived Beauty: Summer Hair & Makeup Tutorial
We invited Melbourne-based makeup artist Daniel Tan and hairstylist Blake Leeman from Karlose James Salon to our studio to recreate the sleek SS21 looks for our new video beauty edits and how-to features.

As we watched live streams of virtual fashion weeks across the globe this year, keeping a very close eye on the emerging hair and makeup trends, we couldn't help but wonder how the designers and creatives will translate their new looks onto the various digital platforms and socially distant runways, especially when most designers were creating collections in isolation.

From New York, London, Paris, and Milan to Tokyo and Seoul, we noticed a minimal aesthetic in both hair and makeup – skin was kept fresh and dewy, and hair was slicked back. Accents of blue eye shadow accompanied exaggerated winged black eyeliner, and the use of what can be described as a touch of eighties retro red and hot pink lipsticks were used to convey their stories.

Here's the Disco Blue Makeup tutorial for Uncontrived Beauty.

Natural Beauty - Minimal and Sleek was unmistakably preferred looks for hair and make-up on the SS 2021 runways this season. Skin was the kept clean, dewy and natural, using soft rose blushes and rose-tinted lips to add accents of colour.

Here's the Slicked Back Hair tutorial for Uncontrived Beauty.
