Unlearn and Relearn Sustainability with the Conscious Festival

The Conscious Festival is coming to Paris from September 24-26, promoting sustainability with a global reach.

The Conscious Festival is an educational and festive event that aims to guide people towards embracing a more sustainable lifestyle. Backed by LA CASERNE, ‘the largest ecological transition accelerator’ dedicated to the fashion and luxury industry in Europe, the event mainly focuses on sustainability in fashion and beauty, lifestyle and food, finances and energy, and travel. The organisers strive to inspire and motivate participants to unlearn and relearn key social, political, and existential issues of modern society, with the broader goal to create systematic change.

The host of the festival, Green is the New Black, is a lifestyle media and event platform that is on a mission to make sustainability ‘the new normal’ while encouraging individuals to take little green steps to live more consciously. The platform launched the Conscious Festival for the first time in 2015 and since then, the event has been held for five years in Singapore, three years in Hong Kong, and last year, as a virtual event in London. This year, for the very first time, the festival is going hybrid with a physical event held in Paris, pop-ups in Singapore and London, and a free virtual event for the rest of the world.

It’s our first time in Paris, after several years in Asia. It’s so exciting, and scary at the same time. For us, it’s a beautiful challenge. We’re hoping to answer the questions of how to explain and experience the links between sustainability and spirituality, and how to recreate a common narrative promoting collaboration and diversity, rather than competition and uniformity.
PAULA MIQUELIS, CO-FOUNDER OF GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK.

The Festival will be held shortly before the start of Paris Fashion Week and the organisers aim to use this moment as a ‘way to send a strong message to the fashion industry.’

From September 24–26, attendees around the world will be able to participate in talks, panels, and workshops that analyse key issues concerning business, fashion, wellbeing, and the planet, featuring some of the world’s leading eco-conscious changemakers, experts, and business leaders.

Moreover, for Parisians, the festival will offer some distinctive experiences with over 30 sustainable brands and retailers reviving their deadstock at the Village marketplace among a festive atmosphere. The physical events in Paris and London will offer attendees the opportunity to enjoy some inspiring art installations, performances, and music from young emerging artists during the day, while a celebratory mood will dominate in the evenings with live bands, DJs, and dancers.
