Last month, I had the privilege of attending a landmark event in the realm of healthcare, hosted by Dr. Nick Coatsworth, a well-respected figure in Australian medical circles. This gathering was more than just a meet-and-greet; it signified the launch of Greencare Clinics' innovative initiative – the Greencare Lifestyle Experts. Known for their online Telehealth and medical services that specialise in alternative, plant-based medication, Greencare is now making a significant leap into holistic health care.
Dr. Coatsworth, drawing from his extensive experience in healthcare delivery, ushered us into a new realm of wellness. He emphasised the crucial role of lifestyle habits in impacting our overall health, highlighting prevalent issues like stress, sleep deprivation, poor diet, and sedentary lifestyles that contribute to conditions such as anxiety, high blood pressure, obesity, and diabetes. The statistics he shared, sourced from the National Institute of Health and Welfare in Australia, were particularly striking – revealing that 1 in 5 people aged 16–85 are likely to experience a mental disorder.
Building on this context, George Moskos, CEO of Greencare Clinics, passionately outlined the mission behind the Greencare Lifestyle Experts program. "The development of the Greencare Lifestyle Experts offering is to arm people with the right knowledge, strategies, and tools to help them on their journey to overall health and wellness," Moskos stated. He further emphasised Greencare's commitment to preventive health, remarking, “At Greencare, we firmly believe that prevention is better than the cure. We've always been dedicated to supporting our patients on their journey to optimal health. This expert team has been curated to ensure an integrative health approach across the clinic, one that extends beyond traditional clinical care.”
Moskos also highlighted the initiative's relevance in today's society. “Our goal is to help people better understand and integrate health and wellness practices into their daily routines. This is crucial in reducing the symptoms of stress, burnout, and anxiety, which are alarmingly prevalent in our society.” He substantiated these concerns with data from a recent national study on mental health and wellbeing by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). “The study found that more than two in five people aged 16-85 years had experienced a mental disorder at some point in their life, with anxiety being the most common,” added Mr. Moskos.
It was an absolute privilege to be among such a distinguished group of health professionals who discussed their areas of expertise with immense passion. I am certain that everyone in the room was captivated by George's dynamic vision, which is set to transform not only how we think about our health but also how we approach it. The emphasis on prevention as a key strategy is pivotal. Having access to such an elite group of experts through Telehealth is as practical as it is innovative. It's a game-changer in our journey towards better health and well-being. - EIC Maria Ugrinovski
