Enjoyed for a quarter of a century, this miniature shoulder bag gained cult status in 1998 after being featured in Sex and the City's classic bag robbery episode, where Parker's legendary Carrie Bradshaw character wore a glittered version and exclaimed, 'It's not a bag, it's a baguette.'
It was a special day when I designed this bag; the stars aligned. The horoscope said it was a Fendi day.
In its Resort '23 presentation, Fendi showcased layered knits, artisanal denim, stacked accessories, and technical outerwear inspired by NYC street style. In the collection's ready-to-wear approach, utility was the design concept. It featured leather windbreakers with colour-blocked chest plackets, moire bomber jackets with double-zip closures and envelope-sized pockets, tonal cargo pants, and exterior zip detailing on car coats. In addition to shimmery, sequined separates and two-toned sports jackets, the collection featured shirts with 'Fendi Roma' logos, military boots, and beanies with decorations.
Kim Jones, Fendi's Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear, is no stranger to collaboration, as he has worked with multiple brands over the years, including Versace, ERL, and Kim Kardashian's Skims line.
I didn't want to do a traditional anniversary collection... Rather it’s a celebration of a time, of the moment the Baguette became famous. I relate that time to a sense of freedom in excess and fun – both qualities the Baguette possesses.
