Whether you’re an avid Fashion Week devotee or simply enjoy scrolling through an impressive range of street styles, the news of Men’s Fashion Week Milan (MFWM) kicking off in less than a week is bound to have even the non-fashionable fashionistas somewhat excited.
Taking place in the Italian capital from June 17th until the 21st, MFWM – also known as Milano Moda Uomo – is scheduled to feature 25 fashion shows, 24 presentations, and the events very first digital-only day, which will be solely dedicated to online shows. Occurring twice per year, Men’s Milan Fashion Week is often known to produce only the most out-of-the-box, thought-provoking collections. With a runway notorious for sprucing almost any and every style of garment, last year’s Spring/Summer 2022 collections did just that.
From Dolce & Gabbana’s crystal encrusted suits to Fendi’s midriff cropped blazers, designers took the term ‘fine craftsmanship’ to new heights. With the bar set high, predicting what our beloved runway regulars will unveil this season remains a mystery. Despite industry insiders sharing whispers of what one can possibly expect, it was last year’s runway that proved we must be ready to expect the unexpected. While leading frontrunners including Moschino, Versace, and Gucci are projected to make a triumphant return, London-based J.W. Anderson will have his very first Milano debut.
Despite normality finally returning to the fashion calendar, this year’s Men’s Milan Fashion Week schedule appears to be looking a little different to the last. One significant schedule shake-up that loyal consumers and industry veterans definitely did not predict was the change between what designers will open and close the runway event. Unlike the years prior, Zegna will not be opening Men’s Milan Fashion Week in 2022; instead, it will be local high-street brand Dsquared2. Infamously recognised for their chic yet edgy masculine designs, we have little doubt Dsquared2 will open with nothing less than a near perfect Spring/Summer collection.
With an impressive schedule, celebrity guestlist, and scenic backdrop, MFWM will showcase why the boutique Italian city remains the country’s fashion capital.
