One of the most anticipated menswear shows stunned yet again.

Fashion has always been an expression of one's individual self and a way of being seen. As always, the Spring/Summer Menswear collection by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons reflects a beautifully curated process. By juxtaposing elements and garments and creating style, the collection makes an impression.

It’s evident that the art of fashion design is one of precise decision-making and curation alongside creativity, uncovering the fundamentals of dress, and there is always a process of refinement behind seemingly simple results. Hence well-known garments are reinvented for their context.

The garments are classic, but their mix contradicts, making them exciting and new. There is leather against the body, then cotton on top—there’s a kind of anti-logic to the combination of the clothes, an oddness.

This collection features direct, recognisable, archetypal pieces – suits, overcoats, sweaters, shirts, denim, and leather.

Combined in unusual ways, individual garments – while often classic on their own – can have a significantly different effect. Designs are malleable, and elastic leather shorts and checked patterns are combined to evoke childhood memories, nostalgia, and sophistication, thus making sense of the discord between them and giving rise to an entirely new identity.

Shapes are drawn closer to the body and proportions are simplified, reminiscent of youth; they convey a sense of energy and vitality while allowing ease of movement, freedom, and an awareness of form and fluidity.

The unique characteristics in this collection were the reduction of the details, removing collars from shirts and coats, and drawn-in trousers cropped at the ankle or into brief shorts. A series of tailored black suits is the logical culmination of this refinement process.

With a blown-up model of a house fabricated entirely from raw-edged paper, the show's décor conceptualises intimacy, reflecting both the natural and the human the ordinary and every day. Both were cultivated into something extraordinary, serving as both the background and an extension of the personality.
